Rabbi Josh Pernick is a graduate of the Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs. Josh is the Rabbi in Residence and Director of Jewish Life and Community Relations at the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven. He served as a congregational rabbi before moving into the Jewish Federation world, serving as the rabbi of Congregation Beth Israel in Metairie, LA after receiving his semicha from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah. During his time at YCT, Rabbi Josh interned at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim in Montreal, as well as serving as the student rabbi of Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh in Portland, ME and the Orthodox Kehillah in Durham, NC.
While at YCT, Rabbi Josh was awarded fellowships and grants for his entrepreneurial community-building work through the Crown Foundation and the Hillel Office of Innovation. In his role as Rabbi in Residence at the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, he is tasked with infusing Jewish content into the life of the Jewish Federation and the Jewish Community Center, as well as utilizing the skills he developed serving smaller Jewish communities to deepen Jewish engagement through educational programming run in partnership with area synagogues, schools and informal Jewish organizations.
