Shonni Silverberg, M.D. is a practicing endocrinologist and Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. At Columbia, she is Clinical Director of the Metabolic Bone Diseases Unit and Medical Director of The Parathyroid Center.
Shonni is the Past-President of Central Synagogue in NYC, where she remains active as Chair of Nominations & Governance and as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. Shonni is Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Hastings Center for Bioethics and Public Policy, the pre-eminent think tank in the field of bioethics. She was previously the Senior Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Wesleyan University, Vice President of the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Coordinating Council on Jewish Poverty, Trustee of The Dalton School, and a member of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev Medical School for International Health Advisory Committee.
Shonni earned a BA from Wesleyan University and an MD from Cornell University Medical College. Shonni lives in NYC with her husband John Shapiro. Her sons and their families also thankfully live in NYC.
