We strive towards the establishment of a generation of visionary, entrepreneurial and effective Jewish spiritual leaders who serve as models for what the role of a rabbi is and can be.

Rabbi Andrew Mandel

Rabbi Andrew Mandel

Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs, Cohort 6

Rabbi Andrew Mandel participated in Atra’s 6th cohort of the Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs to grow the reach and impact of Tzedek Box. Tzedek Box has grown tremendously and is now serving 10,000 individuals. Rabbi Mandel worked with artist Tobi Kahn who designed a rendition of the Tzedek Box, now on display at the Jewish Museum, and an exhibit of 31 tzedek boxes all made by different artists is on display at the HUC Museum. Rabbi Mandel’s work received recognition in the Forward in April 2023 for his innovative Tzedek Box. In addition to founding and leading Tzedek Box, he is also building out Central Synagogue’s online community.

Rabbanit Dasi Fruchter

Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs, Cohort 3

After decades of urban population decline, the Jewish community in Center City/South Philadelphia quadrupled in size from 2009 to 2019. Harnessing that special momentum, Rabbanit Dasi Fruchter participated in Atra’s 3rd cohort of the Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs as she launched the South Philly Shtiebel in 2019. Under Rabbanit Fruchter’s leadership, the Shtiebel serves as a center of spiritual gathering, providing Jewish ritual and learning that is content-rich, community-based, and integrates the whole person.
